i have HIDs on my 96. i bought a pair of 97-99 headlamps and tried them out with my HIDs, but the beam pattern was attrocious and I couldn't reaim the lights to point toward the ground. could be the pair i got or an install problem. either way, i ended up selling the 97-99 and just keeping my 96 headlamps.

I still get lots of compliments on the HIDs even w/ my 96 headlamps.

are u talking about real HID or those 30 dollar xenon gas bulbs? but yeah - i agree on the fog lights, especially if you have those crystal ion bulbs in them
