Is it possible to put 97-99 tails on a 95-96? Has anyone tried?

I dont't know, I was kind of wondering this too. I have a 96, and have thought about it. They seem to be the same shape, the lights are just flipped.

why would you want to but 97-99 lights???

if you going to do a conversion go for a skyline or a nice tail light conversion, just putting new maxima lights in my opinion would be a waste of money. unless you were gonna put the 2000 max lights on. that might look tight!

you're totally right, if i wanted skyline conversion, i would ask about it, and i think 2k tails would look like **** on 4th gen. My question is if the 97-99 fit, they look similar, but I know they are not exact, has anyone actually tried?

i doubt it

if i understand what you want..
you want to put 97-99 tail lights onto your 96 max..

i don't think it will work.. i thnk the 97 and up tails are a little bigger ..and shaped a little different ..

ask doug .. he might know.. he's had a 95 and now he's got a 97 and he's takin the tails off of both ..

Iam almost positive they are the same size. I almost did the same convertion on my 95 because the 97 tails look alot better in my opinion. But, as someone on this forum pointed out to me, the 97 tail and trunk have like a seam that runs all the way through them. I never noticed it until that guy told me. So, to do the swap and make it look right you might have to replace the trunk. But if anyone has done the swap, post some pics. MY2Cents

From what I understand you would have to have some bodywork done to the trunk. The 97+ don't have the dip in the middle of the light if I am not mistaken. . . You would probably have to fit a new trunk to get them to look right.
