I've got a 96 SE, I want some new wheels, but I don't want to go taller and lose my speed. Can I simply go wider 15x7 inches to get the handeling benifits and keep my speed? Or, will that set up not fit correctly, and make my car ride like ****? I'm thinking I can get a 15x7 inch wheel in the same weight as my stock wheels, so weight shouldn't be an issue. Could someone help me out?

technically,it would slow u down b/c u have a greater area creating friction with the pavement, but the it shouldn't be as great as a +1 or +2 upgrade...

I would go with 16 x7 rims and 225/50/16 H-Z rated tires. That will keep your speedo on and is the best combination of ride/handling/cost.

Being wider is only part of better handling

While I still have sucky 15's and did get a wider tire, having a taller rim, like a 17 helps becasue it reduces the amount of tire sidewall. If you get 17's, you also get a low profile tire, so the dia. of the tire\wheel combo is about the same. Lower profiles, mean less sidewalls, which mean less sidewall flex, which means less body roll. Wider tires, only help with traction.
