OK,OK, enough about the spec v, yes it's quick, no it can't beat us on a highway. Would i put it against a civic and anything else in its class, yes. But lets not get it confused, we don't have anything to speak of in terms of 1/4 mile times. We can add some excitement to our everyday driving with bolt ons and then go an extra mile with weight reduction. Then there's boost, juice and all of that other wild ****. But arguing about a few tenths of a second is ridiculous. Especially when most of us have never seen the other side of 14 seconds. Just my .02.

Papasmurf.... sounds cool to me. I just kindof made the assumption to group the two of you together in both thought process and imagination, which I shouldn't have done.

I just looked at their 1/4 mile forum, here are the results:

MAXXDOUTSPECV - 2.204 60', 14.949@90.65mph (2002 Spec-V, White) AE--Intake and Exhaust

Gforce - 2.318 60', 15.137@91.86mph ('02 Spec-V, Blue) A--Intake

FastSpecV-2.190 60', 15.204@89mph ('02 Spec-V, Blackout) - Stock

So, looks like I was right. I have no doubt that someone could on some day pull a 15.0 stock, the fact is that no one has done it, at least according to your site. Low 15s stock for the Spec-V are pretty good already IMO. Pretty much about the same times as the RSX-S. Stock vs. stock, the Spec-V should able to take out an auto Maxima with no problem. The 5spd Maxima should able to take out the Spec-V though.

It would not only beat it, but you can give the spec v, a 1- 1.5 second headstart.

???

i dont get why many maxima owners are worried about spec v's....granted they are pretty quick for what they are but i raced one down the street from me, theres a 1/4 mile road on a little bit of an incline which makes starts with a 5spd dificult but i invited a kid that tryed racing me on main roads up there and i honestly thought the car would romp on me from what everyone said on the org but it was the oposite...i raced him 3 times and took him by at least a car and a half everytime...my cars a 96 5spd with 107k only performance mod at the time was apexi cat back, i was also running with really oversized tires on the front because of lack of money to buy anything better....

THE GHEY 6200 RPM REDLINE!

the peak torque is produced at around 4000 RPMS, which is what makes the SpecV good for autoX,

and DanIAm it really depends on the driver

makes sense. i really do like that car. when i first drove it i was suprised at how torquey it feels (considering its a 4 cycl) you really should take my advice on removing that front emblem. it makes the car look really aggressive.

MAXXDOUTSPECV - 2.204 60', 14.949@90.65mph (2002 Spec-V, White) AE--Intake and Exhaust

Gforce - 2.318 60', 15.137@91.86mph ('02 Spec-V, Blue) A--Intake

FastSpecV-2.190 60', 15.204@89mph ('02 Spec-V, Blackout) - Stock

here is a 15.09 run in a stock spec v. those who said they bet their cars it couldn't happen can hand over the titles now :-) j/k

The other timeslip is a 2002 SE 6spd Maxima with injen CAi and SSR compeition 17" rims, with the same driver as the spec v (he's a good driver), pulling a 14.1

http://home.attbi.com/~jmrecker/tslips.jpg

the original post is at: http://www.b15sentra.net/forums/show...threadid=35993

Now if only I could get my 3rd gen to run a decent time.

There was a whole argument over this a few weeks ago. The heated debate was about whether or not 15.09 is really a 15.0, or a 15.1.

wow thats nuts. I guess if people want to get into rounding than anything under a 15.5 could technically be rounded down to a 15.0, and anything 15.5 and up could be a 16. Hmmm, now that I think about it a 14.0 is closer to 10 then it is to 20, so I might as well just round the 2002 Max down to a 10 second car, and the spec v (at 15.0) up to a 20 second car. How stupid. The number is what it is, despite whatever games people want to play. oh well. Thanks for the link though.

Anyway, I think that both times, the 14.1 and 15.0 are pretty hot and show that nissan is turning things up nicely ;-)

I think that 1/4 mile comparison is entirely pointless unless you're running the same track under the same conditions. I've seen people run from mid-14's to mid-15's just due to the conditions on race night.

Yeah, the back on nearly all USA Nissan cars after the 3rd gen maxima era (styling from the early 90's), with the exception of the 2002 altima, look quite ugly IMO. I think they must have given the designers a pay cut around 1995.

Back of sentra after early 90's style=ugly
back of altima after early 90's style (the ones between the first body and the new one) = ugly
back of 4th gen+ maximas = ugly

hopefully the redesigned max and sentra will be better in the rear.
