clicking noise when i turn steering wheel all the way?

i have a clicking/cracking noise when i turn the steering wheel all the way to either side, i tried spraying silicone lubricant on the shocks and boots but noise still happens, it sounds like somethings about to crack off, i had this problem since i bought the car in january,
Any ideas what this noise can be?
DO YOU THINK I SHOULD BE WORRYING ABOUT IT OR MAYBE ITS NOTHING

THANKLS ALL

heh, for some reason. I have that same exact problem, But it only happens when I turn the wheel all the way to the left, then it sounds like grinding. But it only does it for like 2 seconds, stops then does it again, its weird!

your joint's probably dead. check the cv boot for cracks/leaks.

the last time i looked at the cv joint i did not notice any cracks , but will check again, what can happen if i leave it how it is , if it is the cv joint and i dont replace it, can it mess up more things, affect drivability?

I was crawling around under my car today to see what would need replacing in a future suspension upgrade when I noticed it...

AhhHHHh.... The outer driver side CV boot had cracked in a few places.. grease everywhere.. *&^**&^!! ..

Well, definitely don't want to replace/fix that myself..looked through Haynes manual..looks like it requires taking the whole hub apart..GAH..-has this feeling of dread- $$$..

Worn CV joints will cause the clicking during turns and vibration at high speeds.

Well, my car has an appointment with the family mechanic next week, til then I'm driving an 86 Accord around..

What's a job like this gonna cost? If I have him change all the boots and both sides while he's at it?

estimates:
boot = $16
half-axle = 80-120
2hr * $50/hr

It's up to you...if the boot's the only thing dead, you can just fix that and save lotsa $. If the axle clicks, replace it.

Clicking noise when steering wheel is turned and vehicle is moving or accellerating is caused by your CV joints. It's to late, there shot, you need new axels.

Clicking / poping noise when turning steering while vehicle is standing still is either spring noise or a bad strut bearing. This is a much easier & cheaper thing to fix.

Just get a set of new axels and throw em in there yourself. Its not to hard, I did it on my bro's altima this past weekend. Just jack it up, disconnect the steering knuckle, pull out the wheel assembly, slide out old axel, put in new axel

Thanks for the encouragement. I notice with every part I touch it is so difficult to unbolt, unscrew, pry open, twist open, disconnecting hoses, its all easier said than done! Recently in trying to replace steering fluid, I could not remove the black cover on the reservoir. I sheared several screws that hold the heat shield covers protecting the E brake cables.... I could go on and on. I wish the threads explained more details, time spent, tools needed, pictures etc and pit falls instead of just 1-2-3 done.
It has to be realized that it is clueless persons that one is trying to help!

It is your wheel bearing and CV joints need to be replaced... those parts can be pretty damn mad expensive

the CV joint, for your purpose, IS the axle.. CV = constant velocity , and its the universal joint thats on your axles, very much like you see on the driveshafts of RWD trucks and cars.. you can rebuild them, but for what they cost is not even worth it and you loose out on the warranty with the new part. i think some places may even offer lifetime warranty on those but im not 100% sure.
if you are willing, have tools, and half a brain you can do this yourself. there are plenty of how to videos around. if you DONT fix them, you risk breaking it, which can leave you stranded or in worst case, a part of actual axle can break off in the transmission and cause about $2,000 worth of repairs. very unlikely - but ask me how i know.. if they are clicking only with the wheel turned, you can put it off for a little while if you need to, it will only get worse.
