Questions about lowering and stuts / other parts I have to buy
I am looking into buying some new wheels for my Maxima, and I'll also be lowering it. In fact, I might even just go ahead and lower it on my stock 16" wheels before I go and buy the new 17" wheels I'm planning on buying.
I did a search and found some information, but I've still got some questions...
For now, I just want to lower the car. That's it. Do I really have to worry about buying struts? When I did a search, most people said it depends on the condition of your struts. Mine seem OK. But when I called a performance shop in my area they told me that I would have to get new struts with the springs, no questions about it.
Also, the performance shop said that I would have to get this thing that makes it so my wheel is straight up and down, instead of at an angle, because when you lower your car with new springs it makes your wheels angle a little bit (only at a few degrees). I think they called it a camber kit. If I rotate my tires often enough, I should be fine without this, right?
Lowering my car is looking like it is going to cost me well over $1,000. If that's true, count me out
EDIT: spelled struts wrong in title

The performance shop is trying to rip you off. It is recommended that you might need new shocks, and if your going to pay for someone to lower your car you might as well have them replace the shocks while there at it. But if you are planing on using lowering springs i dont think that you will need a camber kit. I lowered my car 2 inchs and i have 19" wheels.. i have had no problems at all with uneven tire wier...(i also replaces all 4 struts/shocks at this time)...
To sum it up you wont need a camber kit if its 2" drop....if you have original shock/struts you should change them..(it will save you money in the long run)

Have you decided which springs are you going with?

I have decided to go with Maxspeed springs.
I also am thinking of maybe just doing it all at once and getting the KYB AGX struts.
So, if I get springs and struts, that should be all I need, right?

The only extra parts on top of my struts/springs were KYB Dust Boots. I re-used the isolation sleeves from the old stock springs (call me cheap lol) and they work fine. I didn't even use coil/spring wrap. No clunking noises to date (except when I back out quickly from my driveway). Take bumps slow and you'll be alright (coming from experience).
