throttle cable too loose affect things?

Today when I was under the hood adjusting the BOV a bit more, I decided to check on the throttle cable. I noticed that the throttle cable was kind of loose, so I tightened it up more. I'm not sure how tight I should adjust it, but I adjusted it so it won't be too tight. If it's too tight, air will come out at idle and mess the idle up right? Well, I started up the car, doesn't seem to have any idle problem. With the car off, I stepped on the gas pedal and released it, making sure it still "click" back to the original position. If it doesn't "click", that means it's too tight right? If that's the case, I'm good. I wonder if that's why I'm not getting the acceleration that I expected, throttle cable was too loose?

Could be the case. Im not entirely sure how it all works, but i think you have it down for the most part. I wonder if this could be my problem as well my car has literally no pickup what so ever anymore, I drive a 99se with 33k on it with CAI, and the car just does not move. I think either my tranny is going down the ****ter, or something else is wrong, but when i hit the gas I barely go anymore, and when im going about 40-50 I literally have to floor it for it to go any faster. Defintly issues, wish I knew what.

double check your idle in and out of gear (park/neutral and drive or 1st whatever). if you over do it, I'm sure you'll notice

Michael,
According to the '99 FSM, turn the adjusting nut until the throttle cam starts to turn, then back off 1-1/2 turns.

Well I'm going to find out tomorrow. I'm bringing a wrench to fit it just in case.
