CV support bearing

The passenger side axle shaft is supported by a two piece bracket/bearing housing that bolts to the back of the engine. I am assuming there is some kind of bearing inside it. Anyone ever need to replace it? Does anyone know the Nissan terminology for this part? Does the axle shaft assembly include that long shaft from the CV over to the transmission, or do the two connect in that bearing housing.

I think the bearing in this support is the reason for the humm noise I hear at highway speeds. I was trying to search for in on AAANissanParts.com (Pinnacle Nissan) web page and didn't have any luck.

Thanks....
John

That bearing is part of the axle. Those 3 bolts on the bracket are what holds the axle in the transmission. Contrary to appearances, the bolts are actually pretty easy to get to once you are down there.

contact www.raxles.com and get yourself a new passnger-side axle for $125 shipped.

if you're hearing a humm, and you're a 5spd, then it's most likely your differential bearings.
