New best for my automagic, 15.0112 @ 91.59

I took first place in the Street 6 All Motor class last night. There were 4 in the class: Lexus SC300, VW Jetta VR6, older RX-7, and me.
I am getting really tired of being so close to 14's. I've decided to not let it bother me though until I get different wheels and tires to race with. The 17's aren't helping at all. My runs for the night went like this:

1) 15.2319 @ 91.05 2.3503 60ft
2) 15.2643 @ 91.14 2.3755 60ft
3) 15.1926 @ 91.09 2.3570 60ft
4) 15.2197 @ 91.07 2.3641 60ft
5) 15.3703 @ 90.37 2.3697 60ft
6) 15.1870 @ 91.11 2.3230 60ft
7) 15.0587 @ 91.57 2.3357 60ft
8) 15.0587 @ 91.24 2.3136 60ft
9) 15.0112 @ 91.59 2.3198 60ft

Runs 7 & 8 aren't typo's. I ran the EXACT time back to back just with different MPH's. My 60's are still slow but I've got drag radials on the way which should remedy that. I think my tranny is getting weak because it used to bang through every gear with the resistor turned off and now my 2-3 shift is getting pretty slow and lazy feeling. Guess I'll have too put my prize money towards a new tranny (w/LSD hopefully).

Nice run. Do you have a VI?

Nothing like an auto for predictability. Do you compete any?

Thanks

This is the first time I have competed. Man, it was a blast! Under the hood, I have basically all of the bolt on's (including VI).

PR CAI with custom piping down to foglight hole
Ractive Filter w/ heat shield (to direct air into filter, not block heat)
JWT ECU
PR Polyurethane Mounts
UR UDP
Cattman Y-Pipe
High flow cat
A'PEXi N1 Muffler
Don's VB mod
Hayden 403 Tranny Cooler
Transmission Resistor Bypass Switch
Sprint Springs
Tokico struts
Warpspeed SFC Stage 1 & 2
Addco RSB
FSTB
17" Enkei RS6
215/40/17 Falken 512's (I think that's the one, can't recall at the moment)

I changed my intake up a little bit last night. I went to a hybrid setup but left the CAI piping there to bring cold air into the intake. I put another 90 on the end with a scoop to help pick up air and take it into the filter. It's a little ghetto at the moment but it works pretty good. Man, after all this work it felt good to win.

Congrats Travis!!!! I hope you took home some cash to put towards those drag radials. I'm going to the track this Wednesday night and hopefully I'll post a best too.

I've got a couple other things I can do before I totally give up on the hunt for 14's.

I got a little plaque and $200 for my efforts. Good luck Wednesday! I hope the weather is as good for you as it was down here.

good numbers

Your 60 ft times could be better. I have gotten 2.2's a few times

Are your tires that bad?

I do like the 91 MPH trap speeds though

I might have to see what the whale can get this weekend.. Hmm

Last I remember, Travis' 17" tires were pretty bald. I don't think those RS6s are terribly light either. With the traction and gear multiplication of the drag radials and some cooler weather, he'll get into the 14s. He needs to come up to KCIR and run again because that's were he got his prior best.

Ian
Maybe it's an auto thing, but on my 5 speed I have the switchover set at 4600rpms and it feels perfect, especially with this cooler 70 degree weather we're having here in Kansas City. With the 5000rpms switchover, it seemed that there was just too much of a delay because I could start to feel the engine peaking out before the switchover occured. Another advantage with the 4600rpm switchover is that when I hit 3rd gear, I'm at 4700rpm so my VI stays open the whole time. When I hit 3rd, the car just leaps out harder than it ever has. After looking over Cranman's dyno chart, the 4600rpm switchover makes the same amount of power as the 5000 switchover at all rpms. The advantage for the 5 speed guys is 3rd gear and hitting the open VI.

Hopefully, my new tires will be in. Some friends of mine from down here were talking about coming up as well. A couple Civics and an Integra.

Re: That's how I feel most of the time.

Man you need a torque convertor. That alone should have you pulling 2.2x 60fts assuming you have a cool motor. Again 205/50-15 + TC = 14s. Don has the same setup as you but he has the TC + smaller tires and runs 14.7-14.9s NA no problem.
