New performance modification

New performance modification
I got my Mobiletek VB mod installed today.
First impressions:
I got this in preparation for boost in a bottle and some other things....
I did not hav eto deal with Don delays because of the way we swapped our VB's out.
The installation is not very difficult. Do not be afraid of this one. It is just very messy. Tranny fluid is everywhere thus, my lift recommendation.

First impressions:
- The shifts are quicker and harder.
- My friend who very rarely rides in my car rode to the place I got it installed and then rode back with me.
- He noticed a significant difference in shifting.
- The car now almost slams into gear. The shifts are firm and crisp.
- This is not a stand alone mod.
- Definitely noticeable at hard acceleration.
- Install is not difficult
- I replaced about six quarts of tranny fluid.
- Use a lift to install if available.

"This is not a stand alone mod."
Unless you mean replacing the fluids and/or adding a tranny cooler.
And dyno-ing the car after putting in the VB mod won't accomplish anything (except making $70 [or however much money it is to dyno] disappear from his wallet).

Many members here may be under the impression that the VB alone will provide a significant increase in performance. As you know, it does not. I got to prepare my ca for future mods.
Cost:
VB - $75.00
Tranny fluid: 6 quarts, $12
Gasket - $10.00
Bolts for tranny pan: 21 at $.35 per bolt.
To the dyno question: WHY WOULD I?
This turned into a humorous, post whored thread

Actually it was a joke

so the VB upgrade itself cost only $75? That's pretty cheap compared to Dons.
I must be reading wrong.

The shifts will be faster and firmer, but that's about it. In my case, and a few others, there was no improvement in track time. Most important, the lag will still be there. Yup, I hate this. Get it to protect the tranny if you plan to get nitrous or boost. I wouldn't recommend it if you think it will improve your performance.

It was much easier than I thought it would be. The hardest part is figuring out which screws hold the VB together and which ones hold it to the tranny.

VB is like a must though...if you beat on your tranny isn't it?? Because I have a 99 Max SE and at 80K I had to get my tranny rebuilt....pretty ****ty huh? Sux how the tranny on our rides suck! If I knew that the VB was the thing causing the wear down of my tranny I would've bought one and had the tranny people put it in for me

The soft shifts that occur on a stock tranny actually will create more wear.
I have 98,000 miles on my tranny. I do not beat my cat but I will drive a little faster from time to time.
A tranny cooler is also helpful in prolonging tranny life. A lot of tranny wear occurs due to heat. Also, changing the tranny fluid at regular intervals will allow your tranny to last much longer. Many people say our trannies suck but I do not see that many people here getting them rebuilt or replaced. We also have many members that are running juice, boost or turbos and most of them do it on a stock tranny with only a VB mod and cooler.
Anyway, that is my .02 cents!
