Something ate my paint! ARGH!

Okay so I'm driving down the road out in the middle of nowhere basically. Nothing by me, country road, no traffic. All of a sudden SPLAT there is some red stuff on my windshield which I figure is the remains of some type of bug. Well I turn on the wipers and squirt washer fluid on the window and get that off. When I got home, I didn't notice any on the top of my car (it splattered close to the top of the windshield), but I missed a small spot on the hood. I washed the car the next day and found that little spot there. Whatever this was had eaten through the wax that I had on there and started chewing away at the paint. I was ****ed. It's not too big of a spot but it's rough there and if you look close you can see where it started eating away at the paint a bit, a few cracks here and there.

Anyway...is there something that I can do to help get rid of it without repainting the whole hood heh. Probably not but I thought I would ask. Already put some cleaner wax/polish on it to get rid of any residue.

clay-bar the sucker. That would take away all the residue... then probably polish/wax to try to hide the aftermath of it on the paint.

Yeah, we get that from the Seagulls.

But every other bird (sparrows, robins, crows, seems to be purple/red.)

Little known fact: Seattle has more crows than any other city in the world, and actually has more crows than people.

You should come up to Vancouver and do a count, Ian! See which city has the most!
