maintenence at 100k

hey guys i got a tuneup yesterday from a small-time but honest mechanic.. he charged me 144 bucks for: auto tranny flush, oil/oil filter change, air filter change, brake check, and spark plugs (plat. tipped of course). Would you ppl think this was a good deal? that price is for parts/labor. i dropped the car off at 8:30 and it was ready 3 hours later.

If he did all that for $144.00 you should be wearing a mask, you stole from him!

that's dirt cheap

only parts alone would come up to like 100$

nice job

make sure he did it right though.. and doesn't fall into that "get what you pay for" thing

not sure i know its platinum tipped, however. is NGK a brand or something?

however, i'm having a problem with my car now.. >_<
my idle is very low, around 600rpm in drive,2,1. also, i get a "bump" or jerk from the car, almost as if someone is tapping your car from behind. my rpm dips down a bit every time this happens.. around 500 then back up to its low 600-700. i'm having a feeling its the tranny fluid.. i called him and he said bring it back and he'll see whats up with it. now it's a matter of how much time i have to let him look @ it. any ideas?

Did you have him put in Nissan Type-D trans fluid? I don't know if it means anything, but that's what several mechanics have told me I need to do. I didn't cause it was like $4.75 / qt, and I needed 14-16 qts (you do the math). I figured if anything seemes out of place I could always go back and do it again, but I bought some good (don't remember brand, it's been 6 months) tranny fluid to put in there.

I can recall this same feeling. This almost sounds like a bad fuel injector. Try unpluging each cylinder coil one at a time. You will notice the rpm's drom and engine bog when you unplug the coil. Do one at a time. When you unplug a coil and you notice no difference you will know you have a possible bad injector. Then just test the ohm resistance to see if it is a bad injector.. This fixed my problem.
