Is this a common problem with 4th gens or Max's in general? I've had my locks freeze 4 times already this winter, and its not really uncommonly cold here. In my 6 years of driving I have only had my locks freeze once, which leads me to belive that maybe these locks are more prone to freezing.

Either way I am going to have remote entry installed next week, but I was just wondering if this happens often to anyone?

Thanks.

Spray some lubricant inside the lock cylinders. Should help prevent lock freeze.

Should I use anything in particular? WD-40?

Thanks for the advice.

donno,WD40 should work but might evaporate over time. I would say maybe graphite based or petroleum based so it would disperse any water in the locks. But I would make sure it's a fairly light lubricant.

Mine freeze all the time. I have to jiggle my hand vigorously with my key to get the lock to turn. But hey it's a good skill to learn

Yeah, that's what I end up doing. I usualy can get in without much of a problem.

However, my girlfriends car is dead, so for the past week she's been using mine, and the locks froze twice on her, and 1, She doesn't know how to unlock them when they are frozen and 2, She's not strong enough to force them open. Finially she bought some lock de-icer to keep in her purse

I like WD-40 and use it for all sorts of things. However, it is not the right choice for a lock mechanism. It will gum up over time.

Mine too

Mine has only done it once. It was really cold with high winds. That's the only time though.

I thought I was the only one. It happened to me last night and I had to go through the passenger side.

One or two uses should be perfectly fine. Besides these guys have a better chance at having WD40 lying around than a water dispersing lock lubricant ice preventing super duper spray!
