Anyone out there have fuel pump problems?
I've had this problem for several months now, but it got extremely bad this weekend.
It seems like my fuel pump is cutting out. I'll be driving at steady throttle and the power drops suddenly then kicks back up. The car jerks badly. It only lasts a split second. This weekend, it did it repeatedly (30+ times) on a long drive with some power drops lasting for a full second or two. I thought the car was going to totally die. I was simply driving ~75 mph at steady throttle with the cruise on...no rough driving nor full throttle pulls.
Has anyone else had a fuel pump go bad on their 4th gen? Just curious to see if I'm not the only one.
BTW I'm assuming it's a fuel pump issue...had the same thing happen on my old VW GTI way back when...but I don't know if a bad crank sensor/etc could cause the same symptoms. Can it? Any suggestions?

I have/had the same problem, but the hesitation went away.

I don't believe this is your problem, but it sounds VERY similar to mine.

Thanks, I'll take a look at my cam and crank position sensors when I get a chance. Who knows, maybe that's it.
The weird thing is I only seem to get this problem when there are other people in my car.

Possible culprits...
Keven,
You may well be right about the fuel pump, but since you've had the S-AFC on your car (did you sell it eventually?), you may also want to consider that the ECU wires you had spliced into may be shorting out. This one had happened to me so the scenario you decsribe sounded familiar and I wanted to add my $0.02
Other culprit(s) may be a bad ignition coil, or a faulty injector, or even the wiring you've tapped for your RPM switch...

Re: Possible culprits...
Thanks for the feedback, Nabil. I actually sold my S-AFC to some shmuck in CA a couple years back...oh wait it was Cheston...heh heh
I'll look into your suggestions. Actually, the rpm switch wiring might well be it. I'll look into it. Thanks again for the suggestions.

I had that problem for a little while. At first I thought it was my AEM fuel pressure regulator, but it continued after I put my stock fpr back in. So I switched out my walborro fuel pump for a stock one, and it mostly went away, but I cannot let the fuel level get close to low, or it starts to do it again, even though the fuel gauge reads above empty, and I still have at least 3 gallons in the tank... very strange...
Never got any error codes either...
