another will-fit rim/tire question (I have searched and searched, and searched

I bought what I thought was a set of 17"x8" TSW wheels. I get them in and they are actually 17"x8.5", with a 35mm offset. Herein lies the problem.....

I have searched and searched and searched old threads and have found many threads full of useful information. But, have not found anyone running 8.5" wide 17's on a gen 4.

I have eibachs and struts awaiting installation. Will the tires rub on the inside with 245/45? how bout with 235/45? Will 235/45 fit(safely)on 8.5" wide wheel?

I appreciate any input and, in advance, I accept all flaming I am due if I failed to adequately search.

You should be fine. 1MAX2ENVY runs that size width only in an 18" wheel with no problems. I am not sure of the tire size he is running maybe you can PM him. I think you should be fine.

Offset?

Will the offset of 35mm create a clearance problem?

theres some one else that runs this size here it is 17x7.5 245/45 17 they have no rubbing issues. I myself have 18x8.5 245/40 18 no rubbing issues either and my front springs are cut.
<----cliky on the home page for pics if you feel like looking.

I used to have 255/35 or 30/20...Sorry, I can't remember the profile, it was either 30 or 35, but the width is 255, and I would only rub on the front wheels if I cut the wheel ALL THE WAY to the left or right, which was easily avoidable. The back tires never rubbed, and even the front tires were no big issue. I'm not doing 140mph when i'm cutting the wheel all the way to one side anyway

I would not put 235-45 on an 8.5 inch rim. Yes they will go on, but I would not do it. go with the other sizes.

I would there s nothing wrong with that. What will happen is that the tire will spread evenly on both side since it is .5. .5 is not alot grab a ruler everyone that is .5=1/2 thats it. So you can put 235/45 or go wider. on .8 tire the tire will bulge a bit more giving you just a bit more sidewall. Maybe 1 or 1.? Millimeteres. It will be noticeable to the naked eye if your picky.
