Is custommaxima.com lying about the racing straight pipe?

They have this "Racing Straight Pipe" for $99 or something and it says that it adds 11 horses. BS? The thing that gets me is the dyno sheets they have with it on and then off. What's up...did they fabricate those dyno sheets to make some sales or is this for real? I was under the impression that to free up the cat flow, it'll give about 1-3 hp.

Has the wisdom of the .org been mistaken or is it just a scam?

or with a Y-pipe+Straight pipe combo

if you just bolted on the Straight pipe with the stock exhaust... you wouldnt gain crap

just like the VIs gaining 28hp and stuff, it only does at certain rpms

thats what nearly all mods do, give higher gains at certain rpm levels.

hehe, you know, that's what I'm thinking. if you look at the Random Cat they are selling, it's advertised at a 14 horsepower gain! But if you look closely at the dyno sheets at the very top, they test one with a full cat-back exhaust and the other without anything!

that's false advertising....

That's like saying "Sure, I'd get a SuperCharger with a 3.25" Pulley, but it doesn't add 110hp until 6500RPM, so what's the point?"

Peak hp doesn't mean jack.

Actually, the MEVI is +45hp at 6500RPM, compared to a stock Dyno at the same RPM....because stock, the hp drops significantly after 5k.

And there are few mods that give gains across the powerband, I can't think of any at the moment, except maybe an ECU upgrade.

Y-Pipe, Cat, Intake, Turbo, SuperCharger, Headers, etc, etc only add power at "high" RPM. (Unless you have a Dual-Stage Twin Turbo, but I have yet to see one on a Maxima)

Oh, and the Tornade Air. +25hp from start to finish.

Racing pipe on ebay

Is this a similar pipe to the custommaxima pipe?

This seller claims that a stock GLE gained 15 HP and a SC'd max gained 21 HP at the wheels. Currently selling for $70 plus $15 shipping.
Too good to be true?

Getting a test pipe today

I got my test pipe on E-bay and it only cost me 25 bucks plus shipping 8 bucks..I think for that price its worth it. The maxima's stock exhaust system is VERY restritive, and eliminating the cat (in an emission free state) can't hurt. I don't expect 14 hp not even with my cat back custom piped exhaust but every little bit helps

I have a friend with a dsm (eclipes) and he said that he felt a huge gain when he put in a test pipe, but he's turbo charged with all kinds of mods.

turbo. end of story. Straight turbo-back exhaust would make him feel even more gains

You don't need backpressure with turbo.

For a test pipe to add 1 to 3 extra horses, I wouldn't say the stock exhaust it that restrictive. The stock intake is more restrictive than anything on the car.

Those dyno results are 100% real. In no way did we fabricate or mis advertise this product and risk creating a negative reputation. I will sign any legal document stating that those are actual dyno test results and everything stated about that straight pipe is 100% correct. We have sold quite a few and have gotten lots of compliments on the increase it gives and not one negative complaint. It is up to you to judge, we just took the time and money to help you out with some dyno results. If you would rather not believe it then that is fine but please don't try to make us sound like a shady company that makes up false info just to make a dollar.

Oh yeah and Delio, the 95-96 Red/Clears and Projectors are coming, if they were not do you think I would have posted it under our coming soon section and create a demand???
