oil on top of spark plugs?

What would cause this? WE took out meccanobles spark plugs but the center rear one was full of oil on top. I mean it was submerged. Not the bottom of the plug but top. MEcca took out the ratchet and it was totally soaked with oil.

It happened to my 93 probe Gt.

I know what you're thinking, that's a ford, but this is a max.

What I'm tryin to say is that my oil seal went bad, and thus oil on the plug. It shut my 5th cylider completely down when I found that out. I replaced the plug, and it did it again....

Check your seals bro, it might be what's causing it. Also, a loosened plug will do the same??

Leaking valve cover gasket can cause this as well.

If so, replacing the rear one is a PITA since the intake manifold has to be disassembled....but at least the MEVI write-up helps in this endeavor.....

What you have is a bad gasket at your spark plug tube....
When you take the valve cover off, you'll notice that the three spark plug access holes in the valve cover has seals where they meet the head. Replace it, and the oil leak will stop.

My #5 spark plug seal was bad, so I had to replace the seal. It never misfired or anything though...it just annoyed me that it was leaking so I fixed it. BTW, I think you can only get that seal at the dealer.

i'm currently replacing my seals, and you can get them at NAPA, Advanced Auto Zone. you just have to buy the whole valve cover gasket ste for $45.
