Service Engine Soon Light Came on 1st Cold Day of this year

The other the weather changed to abotu the coldest it's been all year in NJ so far. My 99 Maxima wouldn't start on the 1st try and the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light came on. On the second try, it started fine.

I am guessing this had something to do with the sudden change in weather, it has been starting fine all week. Any ideas of what it could be? I have a brand new battery so it isn't the battery. The fuel filter hasn't been changed in the 3.5 years I've owned it though.

I wouldn't be surprised if the code comes up a misfire from the failed start. If so, the links people provided also mention how to reset it as well.

..

Yes, It's had tuneups, but the fuel filter is one of the things I haven't gotten around to yet. It's been a week and my car is starting fine, so hopefully it was just a cold weather thing.

Hey.. mine service engine light just came on today as well. BUT unlike paul2112, I have had all 60K tune-up done like 1 month ago... everything changed including the fuel filter. WHAT MIGHT BE MY PROBLEM.. I am a little worried... PLEASE ADVISE!!!....

I think getting the code from your SES light might be the best way to narrow down what the problem might be.

With the information you gave, it could quite easily be anything.

Mine came on last week on a cooler day too. It was the rear O2 sensor. dealer replaced under warranty.

perhaps you should diagnose your car and tell us what the problem is. my guess is it's the change your aftermarket spoiler asap! code...but that's only a guess.
