I got me a Maxima

Hey there..

Brand new to the forum. Just got back from the Dealership, and signed my life away as I purchased a 1999 maxima. I get it in about a month. Just gotta give them a check for 1300.00 for the down payment. I hear great stuff about them. I took it for a test drive today. It drives like a god compaired to my previous car which was.. cough cough., a 1993 saturn sc2. The sales guy told me to pretty much floor it as I was going up a hill, and let me tell you.. up a hill!! I hit 50 before i new it. I can only imagine on a straight away. Car has 49,000 miles on it. Got everything I could want except sunroof. I did not want leather which worked out perfectly. Gets to hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Now like my saturn, I am going to want to hook this thing up appearance wise. got any good websites to check out for appearence mods? Saturn had crap!.

also want to know if there is anything I should look out for in this car? there were no squeeks or anything when driving, but my saturn has none either when i got it.. but then they appeared..

well.. I am financing, and the bank makes the dealership charge me book value. which works out in my favor. For instance, they had a sticker price of 16990. Now the napa.com value is 13090. So therefore, I pay 13090. works out quite nicely. They prohibit the dealership from putting a cap/markup on it. What the dealership does it fax over the complete config to the bank, then the bank calls me to verify the features tells me the rpice, and then faxes the dealer back and tell them the price which they HAVE to abide by! I then come up with 10% of the price which will be about 1309 and bingo.. drive home that day. I got 500.00 saved now. little more to go..

If it has chrome door handles its a GXE, if the handles are the color of the car its an SE.

Also, the gauges are white on an SE and black on a GXE

Congrats! Thats cool that the bank has to charge you NADA value. You got a pretty good deal. I have a 99 (unfortunatly automatic as well). Mine is a sterling mist SE-L, what color is yours? One mod that I am seriously considering is the VB mod by Jeff at Maximum Tuning in Long Island. He does things to your valve body so your shifts are harder, it also makes your transmision stronger (I am also going to add a transmission cooler). This might make the car a little faster, but does not give you any horsepower.
Well good luck with everything,
Dan
