97-99 w/remote start - need set up alternatives
#1
What are my options for remotes? Is it possible to operate the auto start with my factory remote? Maybe program the panic button to be my starter button? I really don't want to be carrying 2 remotes on my key chain. Just wondering how you guys run yours. Thanks.

i don't have a remote starter, but i think you would need a seperate remote....i doubt you could use stock clicker...maybe you can get a new remote and program everything into that one. i would call some shop that installs remote starts and ask them

you can add on to ur stock remote starter.go to ebay and look up "remote starter" and search for "add on to oem". you would have to press ur lock button 3 times because if you press ur unlock button three times, the front windows roll down in the 97-99 models. The add on remote starter, is 45 dollars.

Has anyone actually bought this remote starter kit? I'd be interested in buying one, but it doesn't mention anything as far as manufacturer or instructions. Therefore I have a feeling that if you have problems you may be SOL. I have a 5spd, but I still think a remote starter would be interesting to have. Would there be any more work involved in setting up the remote starter, or would I just have to make sure that my car wasn't in gear when I started it?

Buy an aftermarket alarm...
You guys might want to think about buying an aftermarket alarm that has a remote start kit available. Fortunately for me, i'm in the car stereo installation business and can add that neat feature to my car when i can afford to buy my alarm. I'm talking about the Viper800. Seems to be a reliable enough alarm for both protection and having it do all sorts of things to your car w/ your remote. For example you can have it roll down your windows, turn on your stereo, start your car, pop your trunk, open your doors, open your sun roof...simple things like that...(j/k). Acctually, if you wanted a car stereo shop to install it for you, it would cost quite a bit of money. Not something cheap, but well worth it when it's finally done.
Thanks for listening.
