Weird non startup
Last Saturday I replaced the starter in my 96 because I was getting a loud grinding noise every so often at startup. Last night I tried to start the car but the key just turned and nothing happened. The interior lights and radio came on, but the engine doesn't even try to turn over. I checked the battery and cleaned the terminals, but still nothing. Is it possible that my brand new $150 starter is dead after only 6 days? I heard the same grind I was getting with the old starter a couple of times with it. Could something else be ruining the starters? Maybe the grinding noise is the flywheel, but I just had it resurfaced 6 months ago. Anyway, after work I'm gonna take the starter and battery up to the auto parts store and have them tested. Anyone else experience any of this before?
