Reaer brake pad wear pattern.
Reaer brake pad wear pattern.
I replaced my rear brake pads on my 1998 Maxima SE. The pads were worn off in a weird fashion(that's what I thought). The pattern looked like:
Driver side rear outer pad: The outer edge (the curved edge of the pad which touches the outer edge of the rotor) pad was almost gone and the metal was starting to touch the rotor. The inner edge had a small amount of pad. The inner pad wear was similar but there was enough pad left.
Passenger side rear pads (both inner and outer) had a lot of pad left. But the wear was more towards the outer edge of the pads than the inner edge.
My mechanic said this could be due to my emergency brake, which was not completely released. He advised me to use ER brakes always or never.
Is this wear pattern normal?
Thanks
Chidam.
