Car Stutering/dieing at 1800-2000 RPMS

I noticed that when I go to about 1800-2000 range it makes this dieing noise and is worse when acceleration to 2000 and then letting off. Also my check engine light is on. What do you guys think? I know I know run the check engine light code but I wanted to see if I could solve it before going through that.

Thanks

Sounds like your MAF failed. Now go get the codes!
