Door handle mod

Not sure if anyone has done this, but me and Max4Speed were talking about this early in the year and I did it a few months back. We wanted to get rid of the all keyholes on the Max. We shaved the antenna, etc. but there were still the keyholes in the front doors. So I bought some rear door handles from Nissan and installed them in the front doors. I had to make a bracket for them to fit, but other than that they work perfectly! Water tight, color matched, and everything is still fully functional. Here are 2 pics.

I am going to go get a bunch of body work done and I was going to shave the locks too. but this is an even easier way to do this. thanks for the idea. I will have to look into this further.

Once in a great while my remote seems to lose it's "brains" and I have to reprogram. Not a low coin battery problem, either... Not sure I would want to live w/o keyholes. Pretty ballsy!

Couldn't you always have someone (like AAA or the tow truck company) get into your car with a slim jim or something? That's what they have to do if people lock their keys in their car... there's always a way in.

If you are dumb enough to lose your remote then DONT do the mod. The guy asked if it looks good or not. Damn.. WE are talkin about cleaner look and thats it.

I was thinking about that. But, I removed the metal hanger that connects the lock (took lock out) to the release mechanism, so thats not a way in anymore. Hope it never comes to smashing a window!

Geesh... Don't get your panties in a wad.

Everyone was just trying to make conversation about a mod that someone did.

BTW, since I didn't mention it before, I think it looks really cool. Good job GaMax.

I was considering shaving all my handles and the trunk lock. but what I was going to do was relocate the trunk lock since it is electrical. so that if there was a problem I could get down and with the key pop the trunk. so that there is not just a botton under the body somewhere.

honestly, who would notice a key ring? and how much time did you put into it? i think its one of those mods that is senseless and it can f u over in emergency situations. an example is taking out the spare tire for a lighter car weight. its just not rational!

i think if someone lost their remote, they'd probably lose their key too...so there's not point in arguing that.

looks nice and clean and makes your max more unique and custom. good job...

I like it- good job....

Since alot of people have been saying its not very smart just in case the battery dies and stuff- wouldnt it be a good idea, to keep a spare batt. in your wallet. (You should do it just in case)

then that's like argueing people shouldn't get alarms because if the remote "gets wet or crushed" then they can't disarm it or go in their car.

you're just looking for an arguement when in reality, it'll most definately be fine. since i had my alarm installed, i haven't used the key once to open the doors because unless you deactivate it, the alarm would go off. to quote forrest gump, "that's all i have to say about that".

most people won't notice this mod but those that do see that it's clean and cool...i like it.
