Wipers making annoying sound...suggestions
I just got new BOSH wipers for my car. Its been raining real hard here Brooklyn and when i turn them on they make a bumping sound while wiping the windows and do it in streaks. On the way up they make this skipping bumping sound on the way down its good. They work fine but are very annoying. Do I need to oil them up with something or what do I do? Thanks, David.

maybe your glass is too sticky. try polishing the outside of your windshield. you can use stuff made specifically for glass like raindance or whatnot, or just use regular polish that you polish your paint with. either way it'll make your glass more slippery.

I noticed this on my Escort when I changed blades too ... I got so annyoed I bought another pair and it went away.
The way I see it, it could either be the wiper rubber material or improper installation of the wiper blade.

I just put a pair of PIAA Silicone blades on my car yesterday and after a few drives in the rain I'm pretty impressed. They're more expensive than blade refills but they seemm to work very well and they're available in black or a carbon fiber style.

I'm a real stickler for super clean windows, and I mean all my windows. I clean the outside of my front wind with toluene once a year. Toluene is a dangerous chemical, but nothing cleans glass like toluene. Then with the glass super clean, I apply some rain x. To be honest, I haven't owned a car that didn't have rain x on it for years now, so I can't even really compare rainx to non-rain x now. I also, only use Bosch wiper blades on all my cars, and have NEVER EVER had a problem with them. I've tried everything from the silicone PIAA ones, to the teflon ones, and I always go back to the Bosch, because no one makes a wiper that does all the things wipers are supposed to do, as well, all together. They wipe as clean, are quiet, don't streak, and last easily more than a year with some refreshing every now and then (cleaning off the actual wiping part, with 100% ethyl alcohol, you'd be surprised how much gunk comes off when you do this).

I'm not real big on super-clean windows myself. Unless something extraordinary comes up I do them when I wash the car and I sure don't go the toluene route as I like my DNA just the way it is.

I find that getting the window ABSOLUTELY clean, then "sealing" it with a product like Rain X helps to keep it clean. All I really need to do to keep it clean for a year, is wash it like I would wash the body of the car.

There are some other less onerous solvents that might do as well. acetone and isopropyl alcohol come to mind , but they may not do as thorough a job as toluene. Your call.
[edit]100% ethanol is actually kind of expensive. 95% is not and will do just as well in this application. The other 5% will just be water.[/edit]
