painting my interior
painting my interior
I decided to paint it an aluminum color.
I used dupli color wheel paint. Its made to look exactly like oem aluminum wheels. I painted my center caps and they match my oem 97 se wheels really well. Well anyway the interior pieces are coming out really well. Almost looks like oem pieces when finished painting. Just with a metalic finish. Painting is easy and this paint works really well on the plastic b/c its made for hub caps also. So far i only got the center dash and pieces around the door handles done. But it looks really well. When i'm all finished i'll post some pics for u to see.

I used to have a 1993 Civic CX, hatch, my first car, and I painted like everything inside of it. 6 months later, there were chips, scratches and fading almost everywhere. I would be very weary against doing this, and know that you may have to reapply coats several times until you have something that remains for a long time.

leon, did you sand or anything? what color is your enterior?
No, as I remember, the only thing I did was clean and dry all of the surfaces, very well I might add, before applying the paint. But this was about 5 years ago, I was 16 at the time, I hope somebody pushed that POS off of a cliff by now.
my center caps that i painted still look like the day i painted them, and thats on the outside of my car in harsh weather conditions. I've had 1 of them painted for maybe a half of a year now. They all look the same.
I have black interior. Black max, w/black leather. Its really looking good. This paint i have isnt going to chip or fade that i can see. I didn't clear coat b/c it doesnt need it. But i would imagine a clear coat wouldnt hurt. I'll post pics when done so u can see. Oh and i did put a primer for the really smooth surfaces. Some of the pieces are extremely smooth and some have a little texture. i'm not sure if i even needed to but i did anyway.
