I am an EXPERT when it comes to this kind of screw-up. I fried the harness on my 2001 Celica, with some Naxos blue bulbs. I took it to the dealership, quoted price= $1650!
Wiring harnesses are not cheap, but, after my girlfriend (with absoluetly no car experience, couldn't even tell you how many cylinders she has in her GS430) took my celica to Discount Autozone, and for 6 dollars replaced the harness. She wired it all up herself, and it's been going strong for about a year now.
I guess I should say that SHE is the expert, not me. But I wouldn't even waste my time with the dealership, unless money is really just not an object.

Yep that happened to me too a few months back.
You can just get the connector from Nissan. I replaced both of mine for $13 each. From Jerry Rome Nissan.
The ones they sell in Autozone are like $4 each but not very well made.
You basically just cut off the old connector and connect the new ones on. Use the wires coming off the old connector as a guide when wiring up the new one.
PS: Change both sides or one side will look dimmer than the other.

If you're just using normal wattage (65/80?) bulbs, you should be fine.
Why it happened, I'm not sure. Might just be some debris got in there and caused a short.
I was using aftermarket bulbs in my car for almost 3 years before it happened to me.
So who knows..
