Flashing Air Bag Light

Help! My battery died, and since then the Air Bag light started flashing. I figured that it would reset after I changed the battery, but it didn't. Does anybody know if I can reset it somehow?

Thanks

Open your driver side door, turn the key to ON (don't start the car), depress the door switch (the rubber button in the door frame that makes the dome light go off) 5 times.

This will reset the airbag system. If there is a legitimate problem, the light will return.

Quick question: if your car does not have an airbag and it was originally equiped with one will the car pass inspection?

It doesn't say anything at all about airbags here: http://www.dmv.dot.state.nc.us/drive...nspection.html

I would doubt they could fail you for non functioning airbags, but anything is possible.

Man - where the hell did you hear of that trick? What happens if you pop the gas tank 7 times, flip on the dome light twice, open the center console, than turn on the windsheild wipers?

air bag inspection...

In the state of NC you do not need air bags to pass inspection.... There is no where on the inspection sheets that requires an airbag check... hope this helps.. Jason

To figure out whats wrong you need to count the flashes given by the light......
2 flashes= air bag module circuit is out of order..
7 flashes= Diagnosis sensor is out of order...
8 flashes= front passenger air bag module circuit is out of order.
I have the repair orders of what to do when you find out what the problem is... AIR BAG OPPERATIONS SHOULD ONLY BE PREFORMED BY A QUALIFIED PERSON.... DO NOT ATTEMPT TO HANDEL AIR BAG PROBLEMS YOURSELF OR INJURY OR DEATH MAY RESULT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only way to reset the system is to do it by computer.. sorry... Hope this helps. if you have any questions email me.... Maxima_gle@hotmail.com

no this works. opening the door, pushing dome light switch 5-7 times puts you into air bag diagnostic mode for the light
