Fuel Injector Testing
Fuel Injector Testing
Is there a way to test the fuel injectors if they are working or not, im looking to do a test like for the coil packs, you knwo when you unplug the harness to see if the engine idle gets worse or not. Anywyas, I have a feeling one of my injectos has gone bad, but not sure, I want to check tomorrow before I go off and buy a Knock Sensor when I dont have to, thanks! =)
I recall seeing somewhere in a service manual that you can test the injectors for a certain impedance. I don't have my manual at work right now, and I can't remember how exactly it works. Maybe I'll look tonight unless someone else has an answer.
Here are the suggestions in the Haynes manual:
Using a stethoscope or a screwdriver pressed against the injector with your ear to the handle listen for a clicking sound. If it’s clicking, it’s working, but there is no way to tell how well.
You can confirm the injector is getting a signal with an injector test light (noid light). It plugs into the harness and flashes when operating correctly. Engine must be running for this test.
Finally you can test the injectors impedance with a multimeter. The impedance should be approximately 10-14 ohms between the terminals.
Hope that helps a little?
