Oh well.. this is what I bought... But it doesnt look
like the rest of the Max´s on this forum
It was actually built in 1994 and sold in Brazil as the
95 model. The documents state it is a GXE, but as you
can see . . it is a "30GV". Please Commment
In the panel, you can see a button with a like a shock
absorber or something. It has 2 positions "Sport" and
"Auto". I would like to know what is that button for. . .
One more thing. . . in this pics you cant see the front
of the vehicle, I will take some front pics to show you
that the entire front grille goes up along with the hood
when you open it ! weird huh ??

By the way, if you ever see one of those 30GV badges lying around, feel free to drop me a line...

I don't know much about non-US Maximas and don't really care to, but from what I can tell that looks like it's basically a 4th gen with some slightly different styling cues.
I like how it has the honeycomb rims.
The manual should tell you what the sport/auto button does (my guess would be what patrick said). What's the switch next to your cruise control on/off button?

GV is a trim spec for certain markets. It goes 30J, 30G, then 30GV with the adjustable dampners.
The same car is badged as a Nissan Maxima, MaximaQX, QX, Cefiro or Infiniti I30 depending on which country you live.

The switch that you asked about is the one he is talking about, with the 2 settings and the picture of the shock...

Hey, it's not much of a GLE any more, so why not throw a random badge on there...You have to give me credit: 1, it is not a "GTR" or "SpecV" badge, and 2, at least it is from the right make and model of car!

I couldn't make the switch out. Good stuff.

the switch has to do with the transmission if its an automatic .. i had that on my 91 maxima. in the comfort mode it shifts smoother and in auto when you floor it, it shifts later giving you longer till redline ... thats only on the automatics tho.

In the Middle East - they call their Maximas the "3.0GV" - It looks exactly like that.
I'm willing to bet you already have a MEVI on that sucker, and an engine cover.....
If I'm right, that car is 220hp stock!
I wanna see some under hood shots!
<Edit> - Just realized this is a 95 - the VI didn't happen until the late 97/early 98 model year. (I think - I hope you prove me wrong for your sake)
(But cool ride nonetheless)

The switch is for the active suspension, no if, buts or maybes. Auto mode constantly adapts to conditions, sport locks in a firmer setting.
I doubt theres any surprises under the hood, same as '96 I30.

OEM Parts
You know what would be a great addition to this forum? If someone with the time and resources could make a matrix of the different options available in the different models of the Maxima in its different versions and how to obtain them. Something like this:
Model Options Price Contact(s)
Middle east MEVI $$$ ...
Cefiro Wood Steering Wheel $$$ ...
Brazilian Active suspension $$$ ...

This is the same as the Australian spec maxima although i have never seen suspension control in them, though here the GV and Touring came out with clarion Tv's in them.
