what is a EVAP Canister purge control valve/soenoid valve circuit

hey u guys i need help on what a EVAP Canister purge control valve/soenoid valve circuit is because my light just came on.
Could someone answer what it is and how much it will be to replace it, the price of the part, and is it possible to repair it my self.
One more thing, do i need to replace it? like what does it do?

Evap system,,,,

Your EVAP canister is under the car on the drivers side in the back of the car COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
The EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve responds to signals from the ECM. When the ECM sends an OFF signal, the vacuum signal (from the intake manifold to the EVAP canister purge control valve) is cut.
When the ECM sends an ON (ground) signal, the vacuum signal passes through the EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve. The signal then opens the EVAP canister purge control valve.
..... But your EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve is located beside the MAP sensor in front of the throdle body to the right of the "Nissan" cover plate..... .. I hope these links work if not IM me on MSN/AOL/Yahoo
