brake pad dust questions.

I replaced my front brakes a couple of months ago, and I've noticed a great amount of brake dust on the front right wheel, the other side is just fine no dust, also after i replaced the pads the cv boot was punchured since then i've had it replaced, but could this have something to do with the great amount of brake dust, or could that brake pad be to tight and just rubbing all time, if so is there a way to adjust it so it doesn't rub. please help

Thanks,
Mike

I'm on my 3rd or 4th set of brakes, and have always had brake dust (more in the front). I would wonder about the side without the dust.

Yup, I'd be worried about the one without dust having a seized caliper. Do they look like they have about the same wear left vs right or is the one with the dust doing all the work. I'd definitely look at the caliper without the dust.

Test Brakes

Let go of the steering wheel and apply your brakes, does the car pull to one side?

its not like there is no dust on the left side, cause there is, but the right side the wheel will be just covered it will almost be black.

Your Brake rotor on the right side might have more of a rough texture on the rotor surface and is eating your brake pad more quickly than the rotor on the other side.
Just a thought.

Did you clean all of the CV grease off of the inside of the wheel? If you didn't, I'm sure the brake dust is sticking to it.

It could also be that your right caliper is need of a little grease on the two bolts that hold the caliper halves together. If these halves are not free to move, they will cause the pads to drag.

My right front dusts more than the left front. At the same time my car was pulling to the right. So I changed the caliper and the brake hose. It still pulled and dusted more on the right. I changed tires and wheel and it doesn't seem to pull anymore but it still dusts more. I can't figure it out.

Take off the front rotors and switch sides. See if the other wheel then gets dusted faster.
