ABS on a 99 SE-L
I just reviewed my insurance policy and noticed I do not have the ABS discount for my 99 but I do have the discount for my 00. When I called Allstate and told them I have ABS they said according to their records, ABS is not available on my car and that I need to send them the window sticker that came with my car in order to get the discount. 1. I don't have the sticker but the ABS light does come on when I turn my car on. 2. ABS was listed as an available option and I know I got all the options on my car.
There is a place on the web that you can get info on cars that have been in accidents if you have the VIN. Is there a place that will give the same information about what options where put on the car when it was built? Thanks Stefnee :-)

Available options
If you want to prove to the insurance company that ABS was indeed an available option, try this link: http://edmunds.com/newcars/1999/niss...d.html#options
It says not available on 5-speed GXE. But that's it.
If you want to find out what options YOUR car has, I don't really know where you could get the information. Carfax.com has basic info about your vehicle, but not something as specific as ABS.
You might want to try finding out if the VIN holds information that specific (from the dealer, for instance). Otherwise, a semi-educated person could just look under the hood at the master cylinder. I believe it is plainly obvious if the car has ABS or not from all the extra crap around it (plus, like you said, your ABS light lights up just before starting the car).
If you have an agent, you could just take them for a ride and give the brakes a hard shove
Hope that helped.

Something official
I asked if they would accept something from Edmunds and they said they need something official. Taking the agent for a ride is not a option because they said that they need to send proof to an underwriter? to change the policy.
And guess what I tried calling Nissan directly. 1 800 NISSAN1 they are closed until 2 January! Happy Holidays to them. Stefnee :-)

You can try to go to a local NISSAN Dealer >>>>
and have a mechanic write a statement that your car DOES have ABS along with a picture of your engine showing the ABS box in the engine bay. Good Luck !!!!!!
