What is done to a car when it is "winterized"? Can I do it myself? And I have noticed a lot of squeeling by my belts. It has been raining around hear, but i don't think it is because of the belts being wet. Is there anyway for me to stop the anoying squeel, or do i need to change my belts. I just noticed the squeeling today. I'll see if it goes away tommorrow after a little bit of driving. Thanks for your input and and your advice on both of these issues.

 

actually, my belts had the same problem. SO i checked around and people said like i would have to replace my pulley, and buy a whole new belt, and it would cost a lot. I was about to spend 50 dollars for an inspection, but my brother told me he was gonna fix it. He went to pepe boyz and bought a BLET DRESS SPRAY. It stops belt squeeling. Actually, it worked. Everytime i start my car its gone and i got no prob. Didnt spend 500 bucks and my stepdad told me that i was a dumbA$$ because i didnt get it fixed. I dont even know the problem but it seems to be fixed. "BELT DRESS" "pepboys"

 

i also replaced my belts earlier because of wear and tear. Go check under your hood to see if you belts are shredded. If not, "BELT DRESS"

 

How can i tell whether or not they are "shredded"? Will they literally be shredding to pieces or will they have small cracks on them? Thanks

 

Belt dress is only a temp fix. I had the same squeeling with 1.5 year old gates belts. I replaced them with Bando and not a sound. See www.bandousa.com for sizes

 

if its cracked then it needs replacement. If its torn on the sides, its needs replacement. Expensive, i got mine replaced 1 month ago but they started squeeking.

But if its fine, use belt dress.

 

Don't use cheap belts and tighten correctly and you will not need belt dress

 

Mine were squeakin during these past couple mornings (cold and rainy). It's the sudden changes in weather. I talked to the Nissan guys about it. They said don't worry, b/c they self adjust. Mine only squeaked until I started driving. After about a mile, smooth as a baby's ***. Mine wasn't loud.. I could only hear it a little outside the car.

I would see if your belts are going bad.

 

We had a lot of rain a couple of days ago and the temperature dropped a lottle in the DC area, but they quieted down. No more squeel, but what about this winterizing thing. Is it just flushing your anti-freeze or What???

Silicon Spray, just to lube the pulleys a little, as long as the belts aren't over due to be changed.

 

Ah...the belts are manually adj.
