I heard that when you increase the amount of power your engine is putting out, you need to upgrade drivetrain parts and stuff having to do with the cams and gearbox. Is there anything that you can do to a 4th gen to make it take more power? If so how much do these things cost?

Here are the choices,
Tranny cooler, oil cooler, polyeurathane engine mounts and Don's VB Mod,none of they's parts are really nesasary but will help out with a lot of boost.Don's VB mod is a great mod for any Auto though.

Well, it depends
The Maxima engine itself is pretty well built. Anything that you purchase for the Maxima (ex. Supercharger or NOS) do not require you to upgrade the cam-shaft, gearbox, etc. Anyways, these parts are not available from Aftermarket vendors for the Maxima. The only thing that you can do is "aid" your engine/car, such as adding a tranny-cooler to keep transmission temperature down or running a better oil (ex. Semi or Fully synthetic). When you add a supercharger to an automatic, you need to get a valve body upgrade, which makes the car shift better and easier. When adding this to a manual, you "should" get a better clutch. But do know, that since you are making the engine work more to put out more power, it will in theory, deteriorate quicker. Hoses will weaken quicker, metal may warp faster, etc. As you can see, you can only really "add" parts to the engine/car to aid in power output.
