go to a exhaust shop that knows what they're talking about, but from what I've seen here, you have to pretty much bend the spare tire well inward to get the space to have the two mufflers even with each other. if that's something that you would be willing to do then you can have dual exhaust. but for our cars it's just for looks, it doesn't actually give you any performance

Try to type like a normal person and you will probably get more responses. to answer your question, i heard that it melts something under the car if you don't do it right. that can be avoided, i think.

Re: Re: dual exhaust.....

midas did my dual exhaust ... but i did know the guy and his work pretty well

Fuel Evaporation Box is what gets in the way..

You can angle a muffler in there and not bend the spare tire well, but if you want the muffler to sit straight you are going to have to dent in the spare tire well a little bit. You should be able to fit your spare tire in the well with a good sized dent, just look in the spare tire well with the spare in it and see what it look like as far as room goes.

Performance wise we can argue all day that duals have no use blah blah blah, but maxima's aren't fast cars either way, so whether it's single or dual exhaust it doesn't matter.

Happy modding, and good luck

custommaxima.com is supposed to come out with bolt on duals sometime in december. If you can wait it would be much cheaper and easier to install.

Has anyone considered doing a "NASCAR" exhaust setup on a MAX. There was some guy with a site and he was about to do that but he bailed on the whole project. Anyway I know it would be loud as hell but gains should be nice. Any ideas or flames for my stupidity???

You dont want to have a loud exhaust. Too loud will attract lots of attention. Attention that will hurt your wallet. What I mean is that there are rules on how loud an exhaust can be and if old deputy dog hears you coming he will give you a ticket. Common sense kicked in his head and said I dont need tickets so he just bailed on the project.

Glad that someone knew what I was talking about. Well I see a few cobra mustangs around here and the sound isn't VERY loud, my friend's 1960 chevy biscayne has them too but that sob is loud as *****. I will do some research and see what happens with the idea...

I've seen a nascar sidepipe setup before on the SCCA race maxima. It was definately illegal-loud. You had to cover your ears when it went by at 2000rpm. You'd probably get pulled over by every single police officer that say you drive by

LOL, ur prolly right! Greg is a nice guy and sells nice projects but he needs to do a more realistic timeframe. About half of his projects dont make it or take about 6 months longer than the release date.
