true but,

Everyone here seems to be really concerned with quarter mile times so yes the gearing is better with 5 speeds but if a 4 speed runs lets say .5 seconds less than a 5 speed normally, and this mod shaves off some tenths of a second, does it not mean that the 4 speed will be closer to the 5 speed in the quarter? I'll answer that, yes it does. Like i said this is just "butt dyno" and speculation but i'm pretty sure that it does make the an auto quicker because you don't waste seconds inbetween years. Its the same effect as learning how to shift a 5 speed really well. You lose ET time.

Its not as simple as that, a 5 speed puts more hp down to the wheels ... take two stock maximas, one 5 speed one auto.... and have them race from off a role..put both in 2nd gear at 45 mph, where both are in power band, and then gun it, and the 5 speed will pull, before even getting to 3rd gear.... threw the gears, a 5 speed pulls harder

True. The manual tranny 5th gear has a lower final drive ratio than the automatic's 4th gear.

actually it can be streched from around 120MPH ( or lower ) to about 175 MPH

That's actually quite scary, but is somewhat true... It's just that we don't have the horsepower or aerodynamics to be able to run out 4th gear all the way

LEMAR

aerodynamics can be overcome with HP.. But your CORRECT, a stock max could not.

I am sure there are 1 or 2 mods that can overcome this

No. That's the speed calculated at redline for an automatic. That is not taking into account the horsepower needed to get there, which is considerably more than what a stock Maxima can provide.

Well let's see. Power is proportional to speed raised to the third power, so if 280 hp gets you 170 mph, then 280*(175/170)^3 is 305 hp plus some change. Good guess.
