HELP: UDP and crankshaft position sensor problem

I put on a new RVM UDP this weekend, and now I am getting code 0905 immediatly after the install - "POS" crank position sensor, which is the sensor that looks at the flywheel (or flexplate in my case) the way I understand it. Also, I feel a surge (like a miss) around 4500 rpms and nowhere else.
Any idea if the timing ring on my udp could be incorrect or something? If that was the case, it seems that it would call out the REF sensor?

Another thing is that when we were trying to get the crank pulley loose, I tried using a chisel bit to stop the flexplate from turning (from instructions on Greg's Maxima page). I'm wondering if I could have chipped a tooth or something and this is the root of my problem. Does anyone know for sure if the POS sensor looks at the flexplate teeth or at some magnetic reference points that
are part of the flexplate? I have read both after searching.

Thanks for any help or suggestions...

The main teeth on the flywheel are for the starter. There is another ring that you can't reach without removing the tranny that the car get's a measurement off of. Hope this helps.

Thanks much for the info. If anyone else has suggestions on what to troubleshoot before putting my stock pulley back on, that would be great!

Theres 2 sensors. One of them is in the front of the car towards the radiator where the engine meets the tranny. The other one is right next to the crankshaft pulley. Check that one. Sounds like you mighta not plugged it back in.

BUMP! Im bumping this old *** thread cause I have the same problem. I just installed a motostorm UDP and now I have the code 0905 which is for the crank position sensor (pos) (the one on the udp side, near the oil pan). I reset the code just now but Im wondering if its normal for this code to pop up or did I install it wrong?

Is it hard to start, or just like it's always been?

starts like it always has. I havent noticed any problems, the only reason I pulled the codes was because I had a previous code for something else that Ive been working on.
