I agree, they are extremely dependable, I have 202,000 miles on my 95. I wonder if I have the most miles out of all the 4th gens on this forum?

Agreed

I have had nothing but success with my Max. I wouldn't change for anything, except maybe a 3.5TL.....

Very Cool!

I think there was a guy from the midwest with around 260,000 on a 97 Max, don't remember what trim level or transmission he had...

Any significant problems in more than 200,000 miles? Automatic or Manual transmission? I'm on my way there, about to hit 160,000 problem-free with my 96 Auto...want to beat 250k.

Great article. Note that there are no GM products or any German vehicles on the Most Dependable 1997 Models list. Big surprise here?

I had an oxy sensor go out at approx 150,000 miles, and the original alternator go out at 175,000 miles. Replaced the CV boots at about 190,000. Other than that it's running like a champ. Has a harder time starting without a little help on some really cold mornings but it still is just as fast as it was when i first got it.

Some things I think are amazing:
It still has the original muffler!, how long are these good for?
Bose stereo sounds just as good as it did when I got it.
I have done very little maintenance, brakes, oil and sparkplugs.
Belts are original, how long should these last??
