the way they rebound

I think that progressive rate springs are harder the compress the further down they go, for performance. The more they compress the more they push back. Non-progressive do not, they are the same firmness throughout.

Progressive means the spring rate is not linear throughout the whole spring. For instance, the top of the spring may be softer than the bottom or middle. It allows the spring to have multiple abilities. One might design a progressive spring so it's soft when the springs weight is even (driving in a straight line), but when the spring leans it hits a stiffer part of the spring giving better performance without comprimising the ride quality on the straight-aways.

Non-progressive means it's the same stiffness on every aspect of the spring.

Sounds like you'd want progressive then

Progressive offers the best of both worlds, right?
So why is it I think I read on here that progressive was NOT recommended??

Or am I making this all up?
