Check spark plugs, fuel filter and throttle body to start. Oh yeah and a clean air filter.

I've been having the same problem recently. I'm gonna be changing my plugs, fuel filter next week when I'm home and see if that helps.

I know when you're low on gas, the car almost dies when starting... so it could be fuel thing

Mine has always had that problem. What I have to do is put the key in, turn it all the way to the right (without cranking it over), let it sit for about 2-3 seconds, and then it starts right up. I have changed fuel filter, had a complete tuneup and I am still having the problem.
