Quick response needed on buying a transmission...
i have 96 5 speed non slip differential transmission which i messed up by putting unorthodox racing clutch stage 3 anyway.. now i am in the market of buying a new tranmission just want to know.. can i fit a lsd transmission in my car no or a 99 or 98 transmission would fit in my 96 maxima or no ? i tried calling dealers but they are so pathetic when it comes to giving out info.. please advice.. thanx

definately can, the 5 spd w/lsd does require a new axle... someone else confirm this, I believe it's the drivers side....
Do a search and you'll find it... it'll fit for sure, just not sure bout which axle u need to buy.

It fits, but the wiring harness is different for a 97+ I believe, it states it in the Haynes, Chiltons, FSM, etc. It's just a matter of changing 4 wires around, not hard at all. You will need to replace the drivers axle, it is bigger/thicker than the non-vlsd, though harold (hlh) changed to a vlsd without changing his axles...

and yes, LSD fits. I did not change shafts either and have NO problems at all from them to date, knock on wood. and i race regularly and you can imagine my shafts get a little strain with turbo and all haha. but then again my car was 5spd conversion before I converted to LSD, so I dont really know what shafts are in there anyways
