FS: tranny problems

I'm so sick of this car driveability problems, someone buy my car and put me out of my misery I mentioned how my car stalls when the car is cold and is shifted into reverse or drive.

So my car is taken to a shop and they tell me that a valve in the valvebody may be sticking.... thing is my car is under warrenty fortunately..... Service guy says that it could just be sticking while it's cold which is why I only have the cold stalling.

1) I have don's upgrade, will the shop be able to figure out that it is not the oem valvebody?

2) Assuming it does get repaired, and I pay a 50 dollar deductible, should I go ahead and buy the vb again from jeff, or should I do a 5 spd conversion for about 1500 installed.

Warrenty will most likely cover this, but what's your opinion on my problem as far as what I should do.. especially since i WAS going to boost next week or so.... jeez always something.

How could the valve body in your tranny make your car stall? It only puts the tranny in gear. The torque converter is what allows the engine to run & idle while the car is in gear. The T.Q. acts like the clutch in an auto tranny.

Stalling when your car is cold might be due to a failing MAF, ECTS, Fuel issues or the cold idle circuit. Cold idle plunger on the throttle body may not be working or the cold idle cam may need to be adjusted.

I can't see how your valve body could effect your cars idle?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

so i just talked with the guy @ the shop and he said that makes sense but the valve itself could still stick, causing the car to not shift correctly while in gear, I asked him to check the maf also, and he kinda just mumbled how he's had 4 guy's take a look at the car and they've been doing maximas since they were made blah blah blah....

I guees my biggest worry is, will they know that don's upgrade is in there and not the oem one.

Where can you get a 5-speed conversion for $1500 installed? I would do that? It includes EVERYTHING in the transmission right?

It's through a friend, complete set of parts..... so back to me car problem.... does it sound like it could be an maf prob? I remember sometimes the idle would drop to like 200 and shudder, and jump back up after a sec... Also once in a while, i'd floor it, and the car would be bogging around 2000 something rpm.

Hey seximaGTR,
If you dont buy the tranny for your car, do you think your friend could do it to me?
Thanks,
Dan

Plus you would have to drive to TX if you wanted him to install it too. Joffe, just bring a MAF up there that you know is good and make them put it on there

To answer your question sexima....NO, they will not be able to tell that the VB has been modified by just LOOKING at it. They will however probably figure it out as soon as they DRIVE it.

I agree with njmax, the VB is not going to make your car stall most likely. It probably has some kind of electrical/fuel problem. Have you tried pulling the codes to see if you have any?

I also have this problem...

...and its driving me ****-nutty!!!

the dealer said to me "100% torque convertor"...but, a tranny shop
I took my car to said "I don't want to change your torque convertor
because it won't fix your problem and I don't want you coming back
to me saying I didn't do my job"...

Personally, I think its a bad coil pack...

My symptoms:

1) Jumpy RPMs
2) sometimes stalls in reverse, or when placed in Drive.
3) sometimes, when reversing, the car will violently jerk.
4) bad fuel economy
5) car almost stalls sometimes when i come to a stop.
6) RPMs will drop (say, to 200) and then *FIGHT* back up to normal.

Does this sounds like what you're experiencing?
It's funny and scary that your mechanic also thinks that this issue is tranny related...

Please let me know what happens!!!

cheers.

there are no codes... courtesy couldnt find any ignition or fuel problems, and if it isn't tranny related, the only thing left I assume is the MAf... Sometimes after I got it going, i'd floor it but it'd bog and remain at around 2k rpm's..... Seems like an maf problem because if it were a tranny proble, then the rpm's should still go up.

Sounds like a bad tungsten element in your MAF.
