Please Help, Tranny?clutch? Problem?

lately, when it has been cold, my car seems to no want to get into gear, i.e., i will let the clutch out, for example, between 2nd and 3rd, and the car will not quite be in gear, i will give it gas and the engine revs a bit without pushing the car, then a second later, its in gear. whats worse than this, the past couple of mornings (quite cold) i CANT PHYSICALLY STICK THE SHIFTER IN ANY GEAR from a stop with the clutch in....what does this mean???????

thanks for the help

It means the Maxima's transmission is very ***** when cold and it must be driven SLOWLY until it is warmed up. When slowing to a stop, downshift and let the clutch out briefly in second before you go into first. This makes it easier to synchronize the gears before you engage first.

it means you need to get synthetic tranny oil (redline MT-90)

Do you have a shortshifter? Usually you feel alot more "stiffness" wit the short shifter. I have problems going into 3rd gear at times, but i learned to adapt.

Well, you could also have a leaky clutch master or slave cylinder and air in the line. The problem could be exacerbated by the cold since the tranny's harder to shift, but when warm, the problem isn't readily apparent yet.
