Best Anti-theft ideas...add_yours

Hey, Im one who concerns about my car being there in the morning. so i have decided when im goin in for the night i have a few switches to hit.hehe.If ANYONE has an IDEA you should post here. I know many of us upgrade alarms. but every alarm is useless. it takes 3 seconds to break, pull hood, clipwires, for 2 people = 3 sec.

I on the other hand just WANT it to be there. no matter what. so heres what i've done. #1 switch by gas peddel(near ecu)nobody can see when i de-activate it.(connects to starter)...
#2 Tricky..5 black switcboard inside driver side seat between seat and counsel.u feel the switches in the right pattern.ex.
1up.2up.3down.4down.5up.<just kinda stalls em'>(ignition wire)
#3 my fogs must be on.aka. running lights.(ignition wire).

Ghetto Use Only:
#4: inside the ashtray switch (different ignition wire).
#5: rear arm rest switch ( hehe! my seperate wire)

This is what i made. got any ideas? PLEASE POST. No SMART comments My car cant be stolen, you'd rather try the vette.

don't leave your face plate or anything showing. leave a big dog in your car...or pay a homeless person to guard it.

take out fuses.

get the autolock.

there's not too much you can do other than park in safer places and hope you don't get hit. if someone really wants the car, they're gonna get it.

so just be ready to kick some butt and sleep in it like i do.

hahha that's the craziest setup ever, but it's really creative! if i was a theif, i'd get ****ed and rip up ure interior.

I'd rather hook a very sensative alarm that announces "alert, this car is being broken into, call the police" at 130+db. If you want to really push it, you can rig knockout or tear gas in it, the theif would never know what hit him.

Well you probably know that whatever you do to your car, if the thieves want it bad enough, they will get it.

The best you can do is layered protection. Park in a well lit area, don't leave any valuables in sight (no faceplate), don't advertise your car by blasting your stereo, and use a steering wheel locking device in combination with your alarm. I have this monstrosity called the Autolok 2000. No, not the one that attaches to the brake pedal, but rather this huge yellow thing that goes over the steering wheel. It was the only antitheft device to be approved by England's "Home Office" testing to resist break in for over 5 minutes.

I think if you have a fancy car and advertise it, you are just asking for trouble.

There's a company that I read a while back that made a unit that attaches to your starter. It uses a coded key to switch off the unit. Kinda like a James Bond type Laser thing. I was going to get one but the Starter on a BMW was too much of a pita to access. Besides, BMW's have a special Deadlock feature that allows the doors and lock to unmovable once activated. In any case, this unit that I saw was in an old issue of like Super Street or something, I'd look it up but I'm in China, if anyone knows what I'm talking about, please help me find it. The company claims that with their unit, the car is unstealable. Even if you cut the wires on the unit, the car still won't start. It all depends on that special key.

Take out your fuel filter fuse. If they stat it they will make it maybe 15 feet.

Undo your battery at night maybe, if it slows them down too much they will panic and just get out probably. Plus when they do reconnect it and go by having the fuse gone they lose even more time once it stalls and they can not restart it. Gets too risky for them

Running a couple kill switches together is nice too. Like a daisy chain so that a few have to be done all together in order for a start.

Securing your max

1. Clifford G4 alarm w/proximity sensor

2. Welded column lock, prevents ignition breakout

3. Trunk release in door handle disabled

4. MaxiGuard Electronic Hood lock w/Medeco lock

Remove the dashes "-" from the word "a-s-s" to view the album.

The best alarm i have ever seen is the one where the guy sits down
the car warns him nicely to get out in 10 seconds and if he doesn't comply the seats are set to send out a shock strong enough to knock him out, but not kill him. Since i think the system measures the percentage of the persons weight on the seat and calculates a shock big enough to leave them sleeping at the wheel.

ok, anyone with a manual tranny, ignition kill is useless. all a thief has to do is get the car moving with clutch in and hand brake off, then pop the clutch, and *WOW* the car runs!

fuel pump kill is a better way anyway, gets thief a block away and then the engine dies. no way to get fuel back.

this obviously does not protect from someone trying to take stuff from the car.

for this, alarms are usefull, get pain generators, loud sirens, battery backups, relays up the wazoo, no "smash and grab" thief will try to sort out all the wires if he cuts the siren wire and it still goes.

however, if your car is profiled by a professional... well, thats what insurance is for.

i think you should get that body armor thing that bat man had on the bat mobile, when he pressed the button the whole car was covered in bullet proof armor. Theres a group deal goin around i think. But seriously when i was at a tint shop, they had those shatter proof windows advertised for all windows. i was suprised and thought mabey in the future but if im caught in an emergency i wont get out and my max would be my coffin . im just lookin into darker tints a good alarm, and an automatic pepper spray realease nozzle in the coffin...ugh i mean cabin. (is it possible to have a pepper spray rease thing in the car)i can see it now....

All steering wheel locks are USELESS. All that theif has to do is cut ur wheel with a small saw in a matter of seconds and get that useless lock thing off. Brake pedal locks are useless also. The best thing to get ESSPECIALLY if u have manual tranny, is to get a shift-lock. My friend has one of those, and he lives in a bad area. Some dooshbag broke into his car, and tried to start it, but the shifter was locked in reverse, so that idiot couldnt do much. 2nd, my friend has that wireless remote beeper that tells him if his car was broken into. So it started beeping... he grabbed a club and went outside, watched that theif for about 2 minutes struggling in a hope of taking shift-lock off, and then came up and beat the living **** out of that *******. My friends car only took the dammage on the drivers side window, and the theif got locked up with a huge scar on his forehead.

see what you gotta do is set up a james bond thing. when somebody breaks into the car, your watch starts making some crazy noises then you can take the guy on a joy ride with ur watch. leave the car parked in front of the police station (hopefully yours isnt like mine and theyll actually do something) then hit the seat eject button and watch them fly out thru ur sunroof!

this is what im planning on doing to my car within the next 47 years.

In a weird twisted way, i'd be kinda honored if a 40 year professional stole my car... Course they'd be kinda stupid cause it ain't no BMW or Benz. but still honored

AND yes, if someone wants your car, they'll get it. My last car was stolen parked right in FRONT of my campus library's double doors during mid terms week. The car was a few feet away from campus security cameras... by the way I had the clifford G4 alarm, so now we all know it sucks...
I didn't feel bad about it getting stolen though cause the person(s) did a really quick job plus I get a new car

How about rigging one of those tazer guns so it shoots out from the crack between the seat and back rest after 20 seconds if the alarm isn't disabled.

Or If you have one of those metal shields on your steering wheel, hook that up to some electricity at night.

I still go w/ the tear gas (or whatever kinda gas) so it won't damage anything... or does it?

Stereo wise I just disconnected my trunk button from my door, so the only way into it is a key! No stealing of my sub/amps! Although they would be covered by insurance though.

Where was this thread yesterday! Heres an Idea that I posted in some other thread for people with stereo equipment in the trunk like speakers. I tweeked the idea a little bit but here it is:

Materials: Loud A$$ aerosol Fog horn thingy, Battery (double A perhaps), Rubber Band, String and some strong tape or any other adhesive you guys can think of.

1. Rig the foghorn wit the battery underneath the trigger. Wrap the Trigger with some rubberbands till it's tight enough to the pull the trigger down if the battery is removed. Make sure it's not so tight that the battery cannot be removed with reasonable effort.

2. Tape/glue/melt...whatever, a strong piece of string or something to the battery and tape/glue...ect the other end to some part of the speaker that would need to be removed, if your a thief trying to steel something.

3. Place the ghettofied "back-up alarm" contraption thingy some where inconspicuous, or camaflouge it to make it look like something else i.e.-use wire instead of string, make a box for the Fog horn...I dunno, Im sure you guys could thing of something.

As dinky as it may seem, I think this would do Great for the "Oh Sh*t!!" factor, seeing as most thieves won't expect it. Can you imagine, (if you were a thief), opening the trunk to a target's car, probably after just gett'n over the initial Heart Pound of disarming the car alarm only to get the HIGH PITCHED, PIERCINGLY CONSTANT screech of a Fog horn on full blast. The frustration of figuring out what it is, where it's coming from, coupled with the all too well known Annoyance factor of a fog horn could really encourage the "abort and hall A$$" responce from even the most seasoned car jacker. This provided that your not in an area where people are more likely to steal your car then they are to just strip stuff out of it. And if that was the case, the foghorn can be substitued with Tear Gas.

Have a small .24 mm pistol built into the seat connected to the gas pedal. When the thief decides to drive away he will step on the gas, therefore, pulling the trigger. I know it could be messy but its better then nothing.

i don't know about the Clifford AG4 sucking. i have it on my car and i use to live in the ghetto part of town. we recently had a high string of car thefts that lasted about 3 or 4 months with at one point 200 cars in one day. i've woken up in the middle of the night numerous time to find some guy running away from my car because the siren was wailing. but i also have a custom set up:

-AG4 alarm with three sirens hidden through out the car, all with back up batteries. so even if you cut the siren out, the only way to have it stop is to take it apart (which is not easy) or to hall it away in another car while its still going off. i have the "brain" hidden in another location instead of under the dash so you couldn't easily find it. if you do cut one of the wires to the siren, the starter kill activates and you wont be able to start the car with out the remote.

-you could try to put my car on a flatbed but the tilt sensors will catch that. if you try to disarm the tilt sensors, the alarm will go off and starter kill kicks in.

-if you try to by pass the starter kill, the alarm will send enough current to the fuse box blowing the fuel pump fuse (custom setup, i have no clue how this is done) i keep a few spare fuses hidden in the car somewhere just in case this does happen.

-dual zone motion sensor with a back up so if one is some how deactivated, the second will still be up and running.

-mega airhorn hidden inside my cabin load enough to hurt your ears

i always take my faceplate off and i have 20% mirror tint so its hard to look into my cabin at night to see what i have. i'm not paranoid, just don't want to get jacked. and yes, i know my alarm is worth about 15% of my car. but the good thing is i can move it to any other car for $200

I like this one. Give him a $1 when you park and tell him you'll give him another when you return. Where else do they have to go?If they didn't smell so bad , you could let them sit in the car.

I have some bad news for you. If I have a tow truck and want your car, I'll get it!. I was in the repo biz a few years back and where there's a will there's a way! Disabling a vehicle is not the end all answer. Garages are the best answer. Gated yards help too as long as they are locked. I don't want to discourage you from applying your ideas to your car but there are ways around switches. Anything you add will give you some piece of mind and added insurance.

to be serious this time, the dealership I bought my car from that ripped me off sold me this thing called i-lock. It's like those little plug-in cards to start the car, but it's not ugly like that, it's a hidden transponder under the steering column. No one can ever start my car when I take it somewhere like Town Fair Tire haha.

And if that was the case, the foghorn can be substitued with Tear Gas.
just remember that most fog horns have to be held upright to actually work correctly, thats funny tho

I like this one. Give him a $1 when you park and tell him you'll give him another when you return. Where else do they have to go?If they didn't smell so bad , you could let them sit in the car.
