A friend of mine has a 2k2 max, some1 tried to break into his car but was unsuccesful, so what he did was go to this stereo/alarm place where they hooke dup his car with this fancy alarm stuff. Cost $250 or so, but you have to put in a code before you drive the car. If you put in thewrong code or dont put it in at all, the car dies after a block. The manual for the alarm literally says "after your car is broken into, walk a block and go get your car." I m thinking of getting it.

Sounds like the Clifford with BlackJAX, that's what I have. The code is entered on their "Plain View" Valet switch.

Get a hood lock as well

I like your setup. A good electronic hood lock would stall them even more. On my car, if they pull the hood release while the lock is engaged, it leaves the catch in a half open position, you can't open it or close it, so I know it was tampered with, along with the sirens blaring as well due to the hood pin being released without alarm disarment. It then takes two people to "RESET" the hood lock position.

i don't know about the Clifford AG4 sucking. i have it on my car and i use to live in the ghetto part of town. we recently had a high string of car thefts that lasted about 3 or 4 months with at one point 200 cars in one day. i've woken up in the middle of the night numerous time to find some guy running away from my car because the siren was wailing. but i also have a custom set up:

-AG4 alarm with three sirens hidden through out the car, all with back up batteries. so even if you cut the siren out, the only way to have it stop is to take it apart (which is not easy) or to hall it away in another car while its still going off. i have the "brain" hidden in another location instead of under the dash so you couldn't easily find it. if you do cut one of the wires to the siren, the starter kill activates and you wont be able to start the car with out the remote.

-you could try to put my car on a flatbed but the tilt sensors will catch that. if you try to disarm the tilt sensors, the alarm will go off and starter kill kicks in.

-if you try to by pass the starter kill, the alarm will send enough current to the fuse box blowing the fuel pump fuse (custom setup, i have no clue how this is done) i keep a few spare fuses hidden in the car somewhere just in case this does happen.

-dual zone motion sensor with a back up so if one is some how deactivated, the second will still be up and running.

-mega airhorn hidden inside my cabin load enough to hurt your ears

i always take my faceplate off and i have 20% mirror tint so its hard to look into my cabin at night to see what i have. i'm not paranoid, just don't want to get jacked. and yes, i know my alarm is worth about 15% of my car. but the good thing is i can move it to any other car for $200

I usually take one of my wheels off whenever I go somewhere. I leave the axle proped up with a cinderblock. You dont see any theifs driving a car with 3 wheels on it.
Im working on my new anti theft device, I am going to also take my steering wheel off whenever I get out. I dont need any stupid alarms, my car will always be there with my steering wheel / wheel anti theft method!

There was a security devise in england that had some type of flame thrower unit on both sides of the car (driver and passenger sides). When the door handles are tampered w/ (or a proximity sensor or something) was tripped, flames would shoot out from under the car.

I liked that, even though that isn't too possible here, or at all.

Lo-Jack very VERY good option, its like $400, and its a one time fee. Supposedly it is installed on your car where its hard to find or get to, and very un noticeable. When your car is stolen, you call the good 'ol 5-0 (cops ) and tell them that ure car is gone. After a few seconds..they tell you exactly where your car is, or something like that. Basically, with Lo-Jack when your car is stolen, you know exactly where it is, unless you wait many many hours before you notice your car is gone, at that time its prolly in peices

i don't know, there was a post about a week ago about somebody popping a tire and shreading it, and actually driving home on a rim, so anything is possible the best theft deterant, leave the car running with the door open and one of those white sacks with the green dollar symbol filled with money on the front seat, something that inviting is too good to be true, your car will never be stolen p.s. im a big fan of those money sacks, i think after you cash a check they should give you an option of putting your money in one of those bags, very classy.

why does it take two people? how do you reset your hood when you're running solo? if you have really long arms, can you make it work alone?

You're supposed to unlock the MEDECO lock before pulling the trunk release. If you don't do that, the hood is left in a half-open position with the lock bar still engaged, therefore, you can't push or pull on it.

Why are you guys disconnecting the switch from the door???

There is a little switch on the trunk lock itself that forces you to use the key. You can still here the remote trunk switch click but the lock will not open....Push down for lock...Pull up for unlock. I know the 3rd and 4th gens have this.

I think its called valet trunk lock in the manual.

Lo-Jack very VERY good option, its like $400
There are lots of sites that sell tracking software that YOU can monitor. Its designed for business to track their vehicle fleet but can be used for personal uses as well. Vehicles are tracked through their website or GPS software on your pc.

This little switch you talk about does not exist on the 99SE. Believe me, I searched for mine. Its not there. I knew about this as well, since I saw it posted before by a few other people as well. What I stated was that if you don't have this switch, to disconnect it from inside the door.

i hear that they place the lojack usually in a hidden spot in the engine, my friends max got stolen his lojack was inside one of his seats, lojack i think is good but it runs with your battery, after your battery dies or is disconnected it has a back up battery that lasts a few hours, so if you dont relize your cars missing, the back up battery will die and its worthless, but if you arent cracked out and relize its a good investment i think

Really?? Thats weird, why would Nissan stop including that switch... Well, atleast you found a way around it.

Did you see if its mentioned in the manual? Maybe its in another location. My mom's 00' Lexus, locks the actual switch with the master key from the inside of the car, not on the lock itself like mine. (the valet key can't open this lock)
