Then he slows down until we are right next to each other. we both doin 75mph And this kid goes behind me and high beams me to race. I was like are you jokin? I was like no way man, and then for get about it, step step on it, and Im doin 110, and I see his headlights wayyyyy behind. I kept goin 110 and this kid starts gainin on me. I was like what da? so pressed the gas even harder and then, im doin 125.... 30 seconds later, this kid is next too me. I could hear the nissan roar in both our cars. Then I pressed on it as hard as I can, and then i read 132 on my odometer. and then he started to fade and i don't see him anymore.... ALTIMA=125MPH????? NEWS TO ME

The EXACT same thing happened to me....

I was on RT 24 in SE Mass late one nite (around 2 am) and an Altima came up on me as I was cruising around 85 mph. I leaned on it some more and pulled away from him, but holding it over 100, the guy was still coming! Just like you said, I had to hold it around 130 to finally shake him. I was amazed how fast that car was. I figure he had it to the boards and kept it at 125 or so. Mad props to the Altima.

altimas are getting better

My girlfriend has a 2000 altima and I have driven it to 100 easily--not a problem. The only thing is the engine isn't as smooth as the vq that is in the Maxima. The 2.4L 4 does produce a good amount of torque and hp, but it is rough I say--and have to say the Honda 4 cylinder engines are more refined.
In any case, the altima is a pretty fast and decent handling car...
but this newer generation 2000 altima is based a lot on the 4th generation max though...

I used to have a 91 Stanza, which had an earlier version of the KA24E engine that I think the Altima has now.

While it was not nearly as smooth or refined as the VQ, it was quick. I belive that the stock hp on that engine was 138 and 148 fl-lb's. While it was no Max...any 4-banger Accord or Civic ( I don't see many heavily modded Civics around here ) where not really much of a challenge for the car.

I had that car a little over 125 and I think it had more in it....strange...that car could go faster than my max ( GXE w/limiter )

My g/f has a 4-banger accord, and it shouldn't be much of a challenge. The fastest car that I beat ( in my Stanza ) was my roommates 88 Olds Cutlas Supreme ( Bored to something like 3.4?? ). I opened about two cars to 70 and then he started to pull me in.

I miss that car. It was fun.

Sjit, honda's built in the eighties with 120 or fewer orses and no torque could beat 120. Just ask anyone in a Chevy who's tried to keep up.

I want to tell you a story about the 88 Olds Cutlas Supreme. Let's just say, I was shockked. My friend had this car and we were just driving and then I jet. I was goin 120 and then he slowly came next to me. I was like "hUh?" I was so shocked that thing could come close to 120. It wasn't even in good condition. i looked like sh*t.
