How bad is it to not have Dust Boots??

I have had my AGX's and coilovers for maybe 20K miles. I have been riding with no dust boots the whold time, is this really bad?? Am I going to shorten the live of my shocks?

Thanks!!

Accelerated wear of the seals as dust can get on the piston then 'pulled/pushed' down into the seals upon compression stroke.

Running no dustboots will very likely shorten the life of your shocks. However, a lot of it depends on where you live.

For instance, I am running GC coilovers w/ AGX struts on my G20t. I've had them for about 3 years and 50K miles. I have had zero problems. No noise, no leaks, no loss of performance (other than regular wear and tear). But, I do live in Southern California where it only rains maybe 10 days a year and I do not drive in heavily dusty or muddy or road salted conditions.

I would imagine if I drove in places where it was rainy and muddy all the time, my suspension would not have lasted very long.

Another thing too... I left the stock spring seats on the AGX struts. This keeps a lot of water and dirt from getting thrown up and onto the strut's piston shaft and seals.

theblue and I both have AGX's and CG coilovers with no dust boots, in WNY where we get lots of snow, rain, mud and salt.

Neither of use have had a single problem. I've had my setup about 10 months and I would guess he has about a year and a half.
