I have a 95'GLE and I always thought I had a fuel light. But it never comes on no matter how low my fuel gets. So I was wondering is it standard and mine doesn't work? I am sorry if it is a dumb question.... any help is greatly appreciated

The gas light usually comes on when you have 2.5 gallons left.. Remember your tank holds like 18.5...

 

all maximas have one......i never seen mine either, but i always filled up the tank when i only had 1/8 left

 

does the 2.5 gallons apply when the light FIRST comes on... but sometimes goes away then comes back, etc? Or does it apply when the light is constantly on?

 

I ran out of gas on purpose one time to see if my fuel light ever came on....it never did.....

BTW, Daniel B. once talked about a fix for this. I will try to find it for you.

 

say the light comes on at first, approximately from the time its intermittent to the time its really on, theres about 2.5-3 gallons..
but when you fill all the way up to the top, its kind of like theres a gallon or two before the needle starts to fall past F. is it just me?

 

Thank you..... I was really wondering because tonight i was in drive through for like 25mins and my needle went WAY below E with no light...I'm thinking maybe mine isn't workin. I don't know how far below you can go b4 the light comes on...As I have never been that low before.

Apparently this is a not uncommon problem.

My fuel light has worked religiously for the last 5 years, I drive a lot so I see it probably once every couple of weeks when I don't fill up in time.

But then this past week, it never lit up and BAM, I ran out of gas.
