My 99 max is sick. PLEASE HELP ME.

While driving my car or I can be at a red light light, out of no where my car starts sputting and loosing power. 40 mphs and up, my mil light starts flashing. The car sounds as if its running on 4 cyl. instead of 6cyl. If anyone with a 99 max had this problem and solve it ,help me out please

Pull the codes from your ECU. Refer to the sticky thread at the top of the forum. A flashing CEL means you have a misfire. The ECU will tell you which cylinder it's happening on. It could be coil packs, plugs or a faulty injector.

Theres a chance it could be your wiring harness. I had the misfortune of replacing my whole wiring harness for a mere $2000 on my 99. The problem was where the harness does a 180 degree bend over a bracket on the right rear part of the engine compartment. It had both local Nissan dealers stumped until they brought in a "Master Tech" from out of state. He said he'd only heard of a few of these happening. His best guess is it was caused by the rocking of the engine on its mounts during hard shifts which causes the harness to scrape over the braket. After replacing the harness he removed the unnecessary bracket to keep it from happening again. So far, so good. Good luck.

I had the same exact problem a month ago or so, and the same exact thing happened...at a red light, car just started sputtering, and then it felt like i was runnning on 4 cyl....got the same exact codes as well, except cylinder 1, not cylinder 4....i just swapped out the coil pack in that cylinder, after checking each one, and it solved the problem

i got em for free

you can get them at the dealer for around $50-60....test your coil packs first to see if infact it is a problem with that, and not something else...dont wanna go off blowing 60 bucks a pop for nothing

Tools-
A friend

Start the car, and pop the hood. Get under there with your friend. Start from the top left, and work your way right, then do the front ones. At each coil pack, disconnect the sensor going to them. Listen to the idle and RPM, and see if the sound changes, or anything...Do that for all of them. Once you and your friend agree that one coil pack (or multiple) DONT change sound when you disconnect the sensor, that is the bad coil pack(s)....Simply swap that out, reset the ECU, and go about your business

check out this post...

it should help you out a little.
also, as an aside, 99s seem to be prone to bad coil packs.

I'm about 99% sure that it's your coil packs. I've had the same problem and just replace one coil pack which solved everything. I also have a 99

Good luck.
